Amateur Radio

Background

My amateur radio callsign is ZL2RW.

I initially got into amateur radio as a way to learn electronics through the local radio club and my interest in radio grew but I am still more interested in the technical aspects.

My first callsign was ZL2TXC which I had while I held both limited and novice licences. It took me quite a while to master receiving 12 words per minute morse code to upgrade and my General lisence and gain my current callsign. It was conveniant that ZL2RW was avaliable when I passed the morse since I wanted a 2 letter call and getting one with my initials RW was a bonus.

I am particularly Interested in Amateur Television and the data modes but I also have an ICOM 706MIIG for HF. Currently I don't have a very effective HF aerial due to living in a rental property.
